Josh Hernandez has made significant contributions to the dance community in Kansas City. Originally from Puerto Rico, he grew up in the bustling environment of New York City, where he was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultures and artistic expressions.
Josh has trained extensively in American Rhythm, International Latin, East and West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Salsa, Bachata, and now Zouk, making him a versatile and skilled dancer. In Kansas City, he is known as the owner of Viva Social Dance Studio, the only Latin dance studio in the area.
For nearly 20 years, he has cultivated a welcoming environment for dance enthusiasts of all levels, teaching students from Kansas City, Topeka, Lawrence, and Columbia, Missouri. His studio has become a hub for those seeking to learn and enjoy Latin dance.
Josh’s passion for teaching began as a debater at the University of Vermont and continued as a graduate student at Kansas State University, where he taught public speaking. His dedication to the art of dance extends beyond the classroom. He has participated as an instructor at various dance festivals and Dancing with the Stars - Kansas City, sharing his knowledge and passion with a wider audience. Currently, he continues to teach and compete, specifically focusing on Zouk, showcasing his commitment to both personal growth and the growth of his students.
With his unique background and extensive experience, Josh Hernandez continues to inspire and uplift the dance community in Kansas City, leaving a lasting impact on all who cross his path.
